    Director of Coaching

    SYSAs Director of Coaching (DOC) is Paul Driesen. Mr. Driesen holds a USSF A coaching license and a USSF National Youth license. He brings 25 years of coaching experience both in the US and in The Netherlands and has coached at the State and Regional levels for the highly competitive Olympic Development Program (ODP) Youth soccer program. In addition, he has published several articles in professional soccer publications (examples can be found here) and has written a number of youth coaching books (such as Coaching under 8s). In addition, Paul Driesen is a frequent presenter at soccer coaching symposia and gives lectures on soccer related topics such as Soccer Fitness: Endurance Training , Speed and Interval Training, and Periodization; A developmental overview from 8-18 (as part of the US Youth Soccer Region II symposium) and Coaching within the Game (as part of the OYSAN special topics series)

    Other SYSA coaches

    SYSA is proud to have a mix of excellent professional coaches and volunteer coaches. The latter are mostly parents whom in most cases also have a coaching license. In addition to Paul Driesen, the following coaches belong to SYSAs professional coaching staff:

    -Brian Miller, for both travel and PFC (NSCAA license). Brian's ODP profile can be found here.
    -Tom Fowler, for both travel and PFC and HS (D license, National Youth License, NSCAA HS Diploma, and GCSSCA 2007 Coach of the Year D1 public schools).
    -Jennifer Berardinelli for PFC and travel (D license). Jennifer is also head-coach of Eastlake High School.
    -Nader Soliman for travel (D license). Nader is also head-coach of the Shaker Heights Boys team.
    -Bob Slonin, for travel and challenge (D license; Assistant Coach of the year Greater Cleveland Div 3 Boys High School). Bob is also Assistant Varsity Coach for Hawken High School and coaches for Cleveland Select.
