Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Why are SYSA and MSC combining forces at these age levels?

A:  We have decided to introduce supplemental programs geared for our most talented and committed players.  Note that these activities should in no way take away from the participation and commitment to each player's normal club team activities.

Q:  How will players be selected?

A:  Players will be recommended and selected by the respective professional  coaching staffs at each club.  Recommendations will be based upon  talent, commitment, and interest shown while playing for normal club team during the year.  There will not be separate tryouts.

Q:  If selected, do I have to participate?

A:  No.  Participation in this program is totally voluntary.

Q:  If selected and I want my child to participate, what will I have to do?

A:  We will send out an e-mail by January 5, 2016 to selected players with details.  We will request a response by January 10, 2016, and first payment by January 15, 2016.

Q:  Will multiple teams be formed in an age group?

A:  We plan to form only one team at each age group.

Q:  What will be the roster sizes?

A: In accordance with OYSAN & tournament guidelines:

  • U10 - 12 players max
  • U11 & U12 - 14 players max
  • U13 & U14 - 18 players max

Q:  Can players from other clubs try out or be considered for this program?

A:  No.  This program is designed as a supplemental activity for existing SYSA or MSC players.

Q:  Why not consider working with other clubs?

A:  While we may consider working with additional clubs in the future, a crucial consideration of this partnership is that both SYSA and MSC are non-profit community-based clubs with very similar philosophies and objectives, including a strong commitment to the development of every player in our program.  (As an example, SYSA and MSC have an agreement to jointly establish soccer teams in the High School age groups.  This partnership will help ensure that both organizations will provide a continuous path of development from the earliest youth ages all the way through High School).

Q:  Will the activities conflict with my existing team activities?

A:  Every effort will be made to ensure that activities do not conflict.  Players are expected to fully participate with their own team activities, prior to considering whether to commit to this supplemental training.

Q:  Will there be other joint club activities offered during the year?  If so, how will selection of players be handled?

A: Yes, we are currently considering options for supplemental activities for early Spring and Summer.  We do not plan to offer any other activities during the Fall and Spring league seasons, as a player's first commitment is always to their normal club team.

Q:  What if I have more questions?

A:  You can contact a representative from either club:
