2009 LEL CHAMPION
The Shaker high school mens team was founded in 1968 as one of ten
teams that formed what was then called The Northeast Ohio Scholastic
Soccer League.1980 was their first title as Co-Champions of the Eastern
Division Of Northern Ohio Scholastic Soccer with a 6-1 record, that year
former Head Coach Wiehe celebrated his 100th win of the program he started.
Championships have been far in between since then.
They were crowned Co-Champs of the Lake Erie League before four times
1987,1997,2001,2008.
This season after out scoring the competition in the league 46 goals
to 1 recording 5 shutouts, they were crowned the Champions with a 6-0-0 record.
First time in Shaker boys history to win in Mentor and only their third
time overall since first game between the two in 1973 which Shaker won
with the score line of 4-3.
Lawrence Neil team captain and goal keeper has recorded 5 shutouts in
the league, 8 overall for the season so far.
Patrick Martahus have recorded 13 goals in 6 LEL games and overall 16
goals for the season.
The Raiders are 9-3-1 for the season and face NDCL on Sat. 1 pm for
the final home game.

SYSA and Shaker High boys have strong ties with all the players currently coming up thru SYSA system at one time or another, the team also plays year round indoors under the SYSA logo in various indoor leagues with SYSA coaches.
The high school team encourages all players looking at playing high school soccer to play year round and always work on their individual skills as much as possible.
